Set in 15ct gold, this rare and substantial antique padlock pendant is in full working order and snaps shut nicely.  It is beautifully and ornately engraved on its front with stunning flowers on the base of its clasp, a heart emblem with foilate design and a central rope border surrounding a bezelled blood red garnet cabochon.

Antique and vintage jewellery is heavy in symbolism and such padlocks were usually given and worn as love tokens.   

This is a great sized padlock, measuring 3.1cm in length including the clasp x 2cm wide.  It remains in splendid condition, and is a good weight of 4.47g.  This beautiful padlock's versitility means you can either slip it onto a split ring or charm bracelet, or wear as a pendant on a chain (see pictures)
